Was in 1990 when my labador Irish setter mix was about 4 or 5 months old, allowing him to be off leash & my mistake as I had not trained him yet, he would want me to chase him, not letting me get him, when it was "time to go" while visiting Dover Dam & Hanging out at the Lake. Had Mommy in 😭 tears, terrified he'd get in that Road heading to Atwood lake. I made sure he was trained the next time we went out there and was careful not to let him off the leash in dangerous areas for the rest of his life. I had adopted him from Tuscarawas County pound. I would be so scared he would get in the Road.

I don’t believe anyone could have saved the park. The ride although a classic steel wheel in track creation was not a masterpiece of engineering technology. The park had one major rival park with far clairvoyance for the future. It’s longevity was just based on population concentrations that opted in for the inferior park for price and longevity of travel time. With maintenance of structures needing major work in replacement for continued operation. They took the best offer they could get for the park. No one with deep pockets was willing to risk an investment. That offer was made by there competitor. They weren’t going to throw anymore money away on a losing proposition. Available space there was also a near impossible mountain to navigate. Property values there were astronomical. It was doomed for failure.

Yes, Cedar fair bought the park awhile back. I think they purchased it to eliminate the competition. I don’t think the parks main appeal were the rides. Just that it was a far closer trip to keep the kids happy.

In the beginning of the video the building next to the Ama divers is the main pump building for Shamu stadium, on the roof to the bottom left were the access lids are and looked boarded up, It was through those doors we scuba to change out the aeration stones from the Ozone process we used to help clarify the water before returning it to the Stadium. To the best of my knowledge there was no male's kept in Ohio as they get too big. When I worked there we had 3 females. Kayla, Katerina and Winnie. Very cool video but sad as well to see the shape it is in.

Yes visit this place but be careful who your tour guide is cause. Our tour guide told us that the number 19 was in stand by me and also in the movie emperor of the North both claims are lies and not true. At the end of the tour. He showed us his white convertible that had license plates that said boiler man or boiler. He is a bald face liar and he should be fired terminated from his position. That's not true to try and sell tickets saying and claiming. That's the steam engine they have cause they don't have it.

It is sad to see these wonderful structures rotting away. Wish we could save all of them. This video is excellent. I especially like that you didn't talk all the way through it. This park would still be operating today if Cedar Fair hadn't been so greedy. The Geauga area sadly misses Geauga Lake Park. And the whole area of N.E. Ohio also. Rest in peace memories .

Honestly the highlight for me is those trails beyond the Glacial Grooves. I have ran those trails and I can tell you that they are absolutely spectacular.

A really cool video/pics would be before when the rides etc. were still there and after showing where those rides use to be. A lot of work I know. Just thought I'd mention it.
